After gaining spider-powers and losing a loved one, Peter Parker suits up in an endless array of costumes. But how has Spider-Man evolved in live-action? Let’s find out now...re-animated!

warning: spoilers ahead!

In his feature debut in 3 Dev Adam, Spider-Man wears a green and pink suit with dark accessories, a tick-like logo, and open eye holes. This crime lord relies on guns, knives, and cloning to take on the equally unauthorized Captain America.

In Spidey Super Stories, he wears a red and blue cloth suit, with drawn-on webbing, a rotund Spider-emblem, and tiny white eyes. Plus, he uses speech bubbles to talk!

The 1977 TV show Peter Parker sports a similar suit, with gloves, leather boots, and a thinner logo. His mask has mirrored lenses that sometimes have aerated holes. This Spidey uses a bulky utility belt and web-shooter to battle generic bad guys, and he briefly has an evil clone.

The Japanese show features motorcyclist Takuya Yamashiro, who receives a bracelet from the planet Spider. It injects him with alien powers, including the ability to communicate with spiders. “Hey, what up?” Though he also gets spider weaknesses. This bracelet stores his suit, which looks similar to the American version, but lacks the belt and boots and has thin white eyes. The bracelet shoots ropes and nets, and even summons his flying race car and a giant spacecraft, which transforms into the mecha-robot Leopardon.

Back to America, in the 2002 Spider-Man film, a nerdy Peter Parker shoots organic webbing. He first suits up in a spray-painted sweater and balaclava to wrestle. Then upgrades into a form-fitting suit with raised grey webbing, a small black spider logo, and his mask has triangular lenses.

Though this suit gets damaged battling Green Goblin, it returns in the sequel. It now has bolder colouring, an enlarged silver emblem, and smaller eyes with gunmetal frames. Though it’s tattered when facing Doc Ock...

...by the third film, it’s repaired. This time the colouring is richer. He also encounters a black symbiote from space. It darkens the suit, curls in the logo, gives him slightly larger eyes, and makes Peter a teensy bit irritable. He eventually tires of the symbiote suit, and then together with Goblin Jr., he takes on its new host. Despite sequel plans...

...a lankier reboot Peter appears in The Amazing Spider-Man. He first wears a black getup, with a red mask and sunglasses to track down fair-haired felons. He then upgrades to a dark, textured Spider-suit that incorporates rubber shoe soles, more blue colouring, a long emblem, and small yellow lenses. Now all suited up, he faces the Lizard!

The second film’s suit is less textured, has more vivid colours, less blue, and no sneaker heels. His symbol is smaller, and he has large white eyes. Despite losing his girlfriend, this Spidey was ready for more action...

...but instead the MCU introduced a new Spidey! While retconned to be the small boy wearing the Iron Man mask in Iron Man 2, his official debut in Captain America: Civil War finds Tony Stark gifting him an advanced tech suit. It can vacuum seal itself, has expressive eyes, dark accent lines, a tiny emblem, web cartridges on his belt, and large web-shooters. This Stark suit is first worn to battle Captain America.

In Homecoming, the suit colouring is more vibrant. Peter unlocks the A.I. system – “Training wheels off.” And is equipped with a retractable wing suit, a hidden parachute, flying drone emblem, and many special webbing abilities. When taken back by Tony Stark, Peter instead suits up in his homemade hoodie and goggles get-up to face the Vulture.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Parker upgrades to the red, gold and blue Iron Spider suit with light-up eyes. It’s durable, protects him in space, and deploys four additional spider legs. Though… it still doesn’t prevent Thanos from snapping him to dust...

But, in Avengers: Endgame he’s undusted and ready for action.

In Far From Home, an armoured stealth suit with flip-up lenses is worn under the moniker: Night Monkey. He then orders up a new Spider-suit, with more black colouring that extends down his arms, and smaller web shooters. He takes on Mysterio who, in his death, reveals Spider-Man’s identity.

In No Way Home, Doctor Strange botches a “forget me” spell for Peter, bringing the two previous Spider-Men into the MCU. Peter 2’s suit noticeably has altered face webbing and dark eye borders. Peter 3’s look is slightly desaturated. While Peter 1’s previous suit has streamlined belt detailing. He wears this suit inside out, revealing its gold circuitry. Later, the Iron-Spider tech integrates with his main look.

Together, the Peters cook up cures for their displaced super-villains. Then Doctor Strange sends them back to their respective universes – resulting in everyone forgetting Peter Parker. Peter then makes himself a much more simplified suit, with a shiny blue colouring and larger spider logo.

Madame Web features Ezekiel Sims wearing a dark Spider-suit with chunky red webbing. This evil chump has a poisonous touch and dreams of fighting three Spider-Women. Plus, a baby Peter Parker appears, but that’s enough of this timeline...

In Spider-Noir, Ben Reilly wears a leathery brown trench coat getup with an added fedora, and his mask has bright oval lenses. Seen both colorized and in black and white, this private investigator takes on a notorious crime boss.

In Brand New Day, Peter’s suit has a streamlined homemade feel, deeper colouring, an elongated emblem, and larger web-shooters. Plus, in close-ups, his eyes are more visible. In addition, when his arachnid DNA increases, he begins producing organic webs. Together with the Punisher, they track down a telekinetic mutant.
